Step-by-Step Guide: Setting Up Proxifier on Windows and macOS
What you’ll need
- Proxifier installer for Windows or macOS (download from proxifier.com).
- Proxy server details (type: SOCKS5/HTTPS, host, port, optional username/password).
- Administrator privileges to install software.
1. Install Proxifier
- Download the appropriate installer from proxifier.com.
- Run the installer and follow prompts (Windows: .exe installer; macOS: .dmg then drag to Applications).
- Launch Proxifier and allow any system permission requests (network access, accessibility on macOS if prompted).
2. Add a proxy server
- Open Proxifier → click Profile → Proxy Servers (Windows) or Proxifier → Preferences → Proxies (macOS).
- Click Add.
- Enter Address (IP or hostname) and Port.
- Select proxy Type (SOCKS Version 5, SOCKS Version 4, or HTTPS).
- If required, enable Authentication and enter username/password.
- Click OK and test the connection using the Test button (if available).
3. Create proxification rules
- Go to Profile → Proxification Rules.
- The Default rule applies to all traffic — change it only if you want selective routing.
